The MUSIKWERKSTATT WIEN (Vienna Music Workshop) was founded in 1995 by Mag. Anna-Maria Birnbauer and Huw Rhys James to foster the development of contemporary music
and in particular contemporary music theatre in Austria, as well as to promote and revive the works of Austrian composers of the Baroque period.
In the short time since its foundation, the Vienna Music Workshop has established itself as one of the most innovative and imaginative ensembles for contemporary music theatre in Austria.
We see ourselves as a forum where old and young art, experience and experiment, tradition and avantgarde can meet in a fruitful exchange.
